ONE WEEK!!

The transition from the end of school to the beginning of my adventure is going smoothly.  I've ordered 'sensible' shoes and travel clothes that will work well in the heat and humidity that I'll encounter in Japan.

I have some great mementos of North Central and Washington Township schools.  I've begun reading Learning To Bow,  a charming book by a Yale grad who teaches middle school English in a rural Japanese school. I've reduced the hundreds of e-mails from the other JFMFers to a mere 100.

I received my itinerary for our trip on Friday, May 30th, my birthday! I leave for San Francisco early Sunday morning June 8.  I can't wait to meet my new friends!

At home I'm finishing revisions on my 'follow-on' plan. Researching some possibilities for travel while I'm in Saijo, Ehime (my prefecture) and trying to learn the features of my video and digital cameras.

Everyone has been so supportive of my dream.
